San Carlo Group Food S.p.A. is an Italian manufacturer of light foods, including Crisps and Crackers.
75 years ago, Mr. Francesco Vitaloni opened a grocery store in Milan – Via Lecco no. 18 – and decided to call it “La Rosticceria San Carlo” because of the proximity of the small church of “San Carlo al Lazzaretto”. The store was quickly distinguished for a revolutionary food specialty: “chips”, which were distributed every day to the bakery and bars in the eating yard. A limited production (20 kg per day) that quickly returned to considerable amount.
In 1940, Mr. Vitaloni moved to Greco, another area of town, to start industrial production with a company that changed its name to “San Carlo … let the chips”. In 1955, Mr. Alberto Vitaloni, owner and president, took over from his father and in 1970 created a multinational headquartered in Milan, headquartered in Via Turati, named San Carlo Gruppo Alimentare S.p.A.
